This optic is a fixed 3 power prism scope. Prism sights are ideal as a battlesight for modern sporting rifles, as their flexibility means that they can generally be used at both close, mid, and occasionally longer ranges quite comfortably. The Paragon x3 offers x3 magnification which in Specter Arm's experience is about the maximum magnification that your brain can resolve with two eyes open style shooting. Specter Arms suggests a x3 magnification for people expecting to regularly engage targets up to 300m away or closer. Unlike a traditional scope, prism scopes are smaller and are more durable due to no moving parts.

Unlike a red dot, the Prism sight requires no batteries as the reticle is etched on the glass. For the outdoorsman or the survivalist who does not want to be at the mercy of batteries, this sight is ideal. Like most Prism sights, the Paragon is astigmatism friendly.
